Purpose

Provide transportation services by operating their own tractor. Be responsible for delivering goods and materials from one location to another as per the agreed-upon terms and conditions with AFS Transportation.

Role

This role is pivotal to the smooth and efficient operation of our transportation services.  

Job Duties 

• Operate your own commercial vehicle, ensuring the safe and timely transportation of goods in accordance with company and industry regulations.

• Execute dispatched routes to meet delivery schedules and customer requirements.

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure mechanical soundness and compliance with safety standards.

• Adhere to federal, provincial, and local regulations, including hours-of-service, weight limits, and licensing requirements.

• Complete and maintain accurate records and documentation, such as Electronic Logbooks bills of lading, and delivery receipts.

• Provide exceptional customer service by maintaining professional and courteous communication with dispatchers, customers, and other company personnel.

• Take responsibility for the proper securement and handling of cargo during loading, transit, and unloading as required.

• Collaborate with company personnel to ensure efficient coordination of operations, load assignments, and customer satisfaction.

• Maintain your truck and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and comply with safety and maintenance standards.

• Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, following safe driving practices and promoting a safety-conscious culture.

Qualifications:

• Valid Class 1 license with Air Brakes Endorsement

• Minimum of 3 years of trucking experience in Canada and 2 years  mountain experience.

• Clean driving record with no serious traffic violations or accidents.

• Demonstrated knowledge of federal, provincial, and local regulations governing the trucking industry.

• Strong commitment to safety, following safe driving practices and promoting a safety-conscious work environment.

• Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and company personnel.

• Ability to work independently, demonstrating self-motivation, reliability, and effective time management skills.

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to adapt to changing situations.

• Professional and customer-focused approach, understanding the importance of representing the company positively.
